In this picture, Uncle Sam is trying to take care of four countries. However the reals tory started in 1893, when the U.S. was trying to overthrow the queen. Marines stormed the island without Presidential approval. They forced the queen to be removed from the throne. At the time, Grover Cleveland was inaugurated President. When war broke out with Spain, the U.S. used Hawaii as a naval base. Hawaii was territory until they were granted to be a state in 1959. the cartoonist message about this issue is that the other countries were exaggerating and acting like babies. they are getting all the attention and needing to be taken care of. Other people might think that this cartoon has some sort of symbolism since the babies are labeled some country and look like that countries people. I personally believe that the babies are wanting attention from Uncle Sam because they are now being controlled by him.
