Panama Canal

Panama Canal

In this cartoon, Roosevelt is shoveling away those who don't support him and the Panama Canal. Under him are his workers getting ready to shovel up some dirt. The cartoonist message was probably that Roosevelt doesn't need unsupporters, they just get in his way. he also put a lot of labeling in there (e.g. Panama Canal). That is why he is shoveling them out. Others might say or think that he should not have separated two countries. They should have built the canal somewhere else. On the other hand, Other people might think of it as a great idea. It cuts down time and travel for it could take weeks just traveling around South America. I am an anti-imperialist, but i do like the idea. Although America had to pay Colombia a lot of money, it was worth it. We can travel to the Pacific from the Atlantic in just a couple of hours or very few days!
